Abstract
Gastrointestinal bleeding has been shown to be a common problem which carries a significant risk of mortality after renal transplantation. In a retrospective review of 945 consecutive renal transplants. we found an incidence of 2.6% with a
mortality
rate of 20%. The single most important risk factor affecting the occurrence of gastrointestinal bleeding was prior episode of acute anti-rejection therapy, and also the single most important risk factor affecting mortality after gastrointestinal
bleeding was time interval after transplantation.
